The untethered jailbreak for iOS5 is finally available and confirmed working using the following steps with an iPhone4 using Windows 7. *iPhone4S & iPad2 not supported at time of writing this **The following steps assume you know what you’re doing…. See links after if you don’t…..
- Install iOS 5.0.1 and sync in itunes. (If currently has a tethered iOS5 jailbreak installed, do a fresh install of iOS in itunes first to avoid a boot loop)
- Download RedSn0w 0.9.10b2 or newer if link doesn’t work, get from http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ or as a last resort here
- Run RedSn0w as Administrator & set compatibility to Windows Vista (If using Win7)
- Follow steps in Redsn0w selecting the default options (eg, click jailbreak, have phone plugged in DFU mode, check install cydia box etc) and you’re DONE
A4 release (pod2g post)Hello, as expected, the Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team have released the A4 untethered for 5.0.1 based on my work.It is exactly the same set of files, either distributed as a Cydia package for those that are already tethered or a redsn0w bundle for new users. They both did a great job testing and integrating the payload. Here is a link to their respective blog posts : – Chronic Dev Team : http://greenpois0n.com/?p=150 – iPhone Dev Team : http://iphone-dev.orgHappy jailbreaking !!!~pod2g
